Suzan Colón is an independent writer and editor who has written celebrity profiles, personal essays, relationship articles, and general interest features for magazines such as O, the Oprah Magazine; Jane; Details; Harper’s Bazaar; Mademoiselle; Rolling Stone; Spin; Seventeen; YM; and others.
During her career, Suzan has written cover stories on celebrities such as Halle Berry, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Monica Lewinsky, Christian Slater, and others. She has done articles on sex, love, and relationships for both Jane and Details. She regularly wrote music features for Spin and co-edited Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Albums of All Time.” She was guest editor of Seventeen’s Hair Issue. For Latina Magazine, Suzan profiled celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez (twice) and Benjamin Bratt, and wrote health and fitness articles.
Suzan is also the author of four books. Catwoman: The Life and Times of a Feline Fatale is a fun examination of the comic book history of Batman’s favorite foe. The book was featured in The Los Angeles Times, and Suzan was interviewed about Catwoman on National Public Radio. What Would Wonder Woman Do? An Amazon’s Guide to the Working World is a nostalgic look at the enormously popular comic book character’s career, along with a few pieces of business advice for working wonder women everywhere. Both were published by Chronicle Books. Suzan has also written three young adult novels based on the hit TV series Smallville and published by Little, Brown.
In other media, Suzan provided editorial content as deputy editor for Bigwords.com and wrote fashion copy for Cargo Magazine’s website. She became the producer of Cosmo Radio, launching the station for Cosmopolitan Magazine and Sirius Satellite Radio and producing eight hours of live daily content in the channel’s first year. She has also done dozens of television, radio, and newspaper interviews, including NBC’s The Today Show; CBS’s The Early Show; NPR; The Creative Mind Behind with Eric Spencer; and The Los Angeles Times.
As a Contributing Editor for O, the Oprah Magazine, Suzan writes personal essays, food articles, and celebrity profiles, and she makes media appearances on behalf of the magazine. She has recently written features for Marie Claire, The Advocate, and Florida Travel + Life (coming soon to this website).
